The Women in Tech Symposium is an annual event presenting the experiences of women towards a particular tech-related topic. In addition to the panels and discussion, the event also recognizes those who embody, encourage, and promote the inclusion of women in technology through the Women in Tech Initiative at UC Athena Awards.
Data breaches, identity theft, ransomware, deep fakes, doxxing. As digital platforms and tools have become pervasive in our public, professional, and private lives, concern has intensified about the security of our information, institutions, and online identities. The need for innovation in cybersecurity strategies — from the technical hardware, software and networks to training the needed workforce — will drive significant investment and attention for the foreseeable future.
The third annual symposium on Women in Tech was devoted to “The Future of AI.” In 2019, the event showcased the experiences of women in AI and explored our collective future with representatives from leading companies, startups, academia, and the public sector.
The event also recognized those who have championed the advancement of women in technology through the Women in Tech Initiatve at UC Athena Awards. Attendees had the opportunity to share experiences, establish new connections, and collectively champion the advancement of women in technology.
Through two keynote presentations and two panels, this symposium highlighted the strategies of successful women in the tech industry and academia, as well as addressed challenges, like sexual harassment, implicit bias and pay inequality.
The event included the presentation of the Women in Tech Initiative at UC Athena Awards to recognize four women who embody, encourage, and promote the inclusion of women in technology.
At this public event, leaders and champions of women in technology will offer their thoughts on challenges to achieving gender diversity at all organizational levels of industry, academia, and the public sector. We will also present the first CITRIS Athena Awards, to honor inspiring women and organizations making outstanding technical contributions and supporting the next generation of women and girls.
